I designed and knit this in the 1980s. The color is a two tone green in teal shades with the contrasting beige tones of the face. It was a major feat for several reasons. First it’s intarsia knit and after that the intarsia is in rayon’s. Keeping the spools of rayon’s from knotting and sticking was very difficult. In order to make certain the rayon’s stayed put there is an interfacing back behind the face portion.
I had a couture yarn store in the early 1980s. All of the materials came from the shop.
The main yarns are Cravenella. 80% wool/ 20%rayon. This is a dreamy yarn. Used primarily in womens knit suits. It’s also a firm yarn. The pattern was lace and and 1X1 rib. There is also silk and cotton in the Pharaoh. The neck can be fully buttoned for a turtleneck or left unbuttoned.
I’ve had this piece all these years stored in plastic. When I did this one and others in my shop here on Etsy they were shop pieces - not worn.
I’ve decided it’s time to let the pieces go to people that will enjoy them. This particular one was so so labor intensive. It was knit as a raglan design in one piece on the front and back. This means that I was holding all the stitches across one side to the other on the needles. Knit on #3 and #5 needles. There are also popcorns in the Pharaoh details.
Suggest dry cleaning.
